Introduction
This article provides insights into the candidate experience, highlighting the actions candidates can take and what they will encounter in their Candidate Portal. It covers the process of receiving a one-time passcode (OTP) for verification, handling availability requests, self-schedule requests, and how candidates can make changes to their scheduled interviews.

One Time Passcode (OTP)
When entering their Candidate Portal for the first time, candidate's will be asked to verify it is them by submitting a one time passcode. The passcode will be sent to their email address.
The candidate will receive an email like the one below containing their one time passcode. If their passcode expires, they will automatically be sent a new passcode or can select the Resend OTP button on their home page.
Availability Requests
When an availability request is sent to a candidate, the candidate will receive an email where they can proceed to submitting their availability directly through the link in their email. If the candidate were to open their Candidate Portal, they will see a message requesting availability in their "What's next?" box. From here, they can select Submit availability to proceed (see Submitting Availability for more about the candidate experience).
- Once the candidate has submitted their availability, the "What's next?" box will update letting the candidate know that their next interview is being scheduled.
- Selecting View availability will allow the candidate to edit or delete their availability:
- Once the interview has been scheduled, the candidate will see the interview listed in their "What's Next?" box
Self-schedule Requests
When a self-schedule request is sent to a candidate, the candidate will receive an email where they can proceed to self-scheduling directly through the link in their email. If the candidate were to open their Candidate Portal, they will see a message requesting that they schedule their next interview in the "What's next?" box. From here, they can select Schedule to proceed (see Candidate self-scheduling experience for more about the candidate experience).

Candidate Changes to Interviews
When a candidate self-schedules an interview, they are able to reschedule or cancel their interview from their portal.
Candidate steps to making a change
- The candidate will navigate to the Interviews tab by selecting Interviews at the top of the page or from the "What's next?" box, selecting See all upcoming interviews.
- The candidate will select Make changes
- The candidate will then choose which schedule to make changes to
- The candidate will be presented with options based on the type of interview: Reschedule, Cancel, or Request a change. If the candidate self-scheduled, they will have the option to Reschedule or Cancel.
If the candidate did not self-schedule, they will have the option to request a change. This will open a page where the candidate can send a message to their recruiter requesting a change:
- Once the change has been requested the candidate will say that a change is pending in both their home page and interview tab:
- The candidate can cancel the request by selecting Make Changes from their Interviews tab and selecting Cancel my request on the page that follows.
- Note for admin/ scheduler ModernLoop users: when a candidate requests a change, it will be flagged in the task

Messages
With Candidate Portal Premium, candidates can view emails previously sent to them by navigating to the Messages tab of their candidate portal. Here they will find any emails that originated from ModernLoop and were sent to the email address associated with their candidate portal.
